Introduction

This is an ongoing project at MetaOptima with the initiative of conducting and documenting testimonials from doctors using our product DermEngine.

The goal is to develop a series of content that can be used to inform and persuade potential customers to buy DermEngine by using the authentic voice of real doctors that use it in their everyday practice.

Context

DermEngine is an artificial intelligence based dermatology management software.

One of its marquee features, Visual Search, allows clinicians to take a dermoscopic photograph and a skin lesion, upload it, and retrieve data for similar cases from a huge database of diagnosed dermoscopic images. It acts as a support tool for clinicians working with and diagnosing lesions.

Role

I am the editor and producer of this series.

Since at the current time most of our clients are in Australia and I am based in Vancouver, I coordinate with the sales team and direct them to create ideal footage. I developed a specification for how I want the video to be framed, recorded and how the interview should be run. With the template of interview questions and an entire document of sketches and explanations for how the shot should be framed, the sales team does the rest.

The Australia team has done an amazing job with filming and following direction. Once it is filmed, and media consent is confirmed, I edit together each video with my own custom animations and visual language.

Project Outcomes

This project has greatly improved my own skill with animations, as the specific type of video and audience allowed me to design towards them.

I crafted it to feel professional and used visual styling reminiscent of a modern doctor's office. For example, I used clean and thin black text on a white background, MetaOptima's greenish teal for branding and the dashed lines as an abstraction of a dermatologist’s work.

These videos are utilized mainly in Australia where the sales team routinely demonstrates DermEngine's value to health care professionals involved in skin work. If I could change anything about the videos, I would request the dialogue be recorded using a wireless lavalier mic for better quality.
