Introduction

While working at The Peak newspaper at Simon Fraser University (SFU) I was tasked with creating a eating contest video hosted at SFU Dining Hall.

Our contestants included a Simon Fraser Student Society board member Fiona Li, Sports writer for The Peak Dylan Webb and Promotion Coordinator for The Peak Talha Butt.

Role

My role in this project was to prepare the production of the video alongside our humor editor Zach Siddiqui who pitched the idea and co-editor Marcus.

I filmed the video with Marcus and edited the entire video myself including the custom animations. Paige Riding was our host running for the event.

Project Outcomes

This was the best performing video of the semester.

It topped 2,600 views in its first week and was a great opportunity for me to experiment with sound and animation. I thoroughly enjoyed it and put in a lot of work while editing to make it as funny and engaging as possible using memes and cultural references students could engage with.
